A Church-less Sunday

It's Sunday and today I wasn't able to get to church like I normally do. My oldest twin Shelby has been sick so I had to stay home with her while Taylor and Kori went to church with Uncle Troy. I enjoy the church that I go to, so I found myself missing the message and encouragement that I normally get on a weekly basis.

In place of church while taking care of little Shelb, I did a wonderful bible study for my Monday night men's bible study. Then after she fell back asleep, I slipped in a 35 minute run. It wasn't a fast run but it was exhilarating and I got lost in the music that I was listening to. That always makes for a more enjoyable run.

We're now inside of 3 weeks and now is the time to really buckle down on the training and nutrition. It's time to REALLY get serious! Next March is right around the corner for the start of next season! Let's get it!

Good Sunday

At the time of uploading this blog, I'm readying myself to go on a late afternoon ride like I mentioned in the video. It's a wonderful Sunday afternoon and the weather is hot - just like I like it. It's been a hectic day in getting the house cleaned up to show to prospective buyers this afternoon, but now that that's over I can relax and go on a stress releasing ride.

Troy is getting in an evening 40 minute run and I'm a bit jealous. He's still a bit leary of riding due to his glute muscle, but he says it's getting less uncomfortable so he should be back on the bike real soon.

I'm still waiting out the extended rest period for my achilles tendon issue, but it seems to be doing fine. I just want to give it ample time to properly heal so I don't do any long term damage. These age-related minor injuries are super annoying! I wish that getting older wasn't such a cruel joke. Well, . . . gotta hit the ball that's pitched to ya!

Sunday's Training

Today, Troy and I both ran for about 30 minutes in spite of the fact that our training called for 60 minutes of running and 30 minutes of swimming. We're going to have to catch up on the training stuff tomorrow. We're scheduled for weight training only, but I'm planning to get my swim and bike in tomorrow in order to catch up from today.

It was quite a nice and relaxing Sunday afternoon.

The Day After

Troy and I worked out this morning and I certainly didn't feel like tackling both a swim and another bike. Neither did Troy upon further prying. I figured that after the long Harpeth River Ride, that I'd not feel up to doing a training schedule one day after the ride. Much to my delight however, I didn't feel any after effects or soreness and neither did Troy. That must be a testament to our fitness and endurance training which makes me happy and tells me that we're on the right track.

So far, things are right on schedule with our program. The only thing that I'm unsure of is what Troy's current weight is. I'm very interested to know where he stands with that.

Today was a 30 minute swim and a 60 minute bike workout.

By the way, yesterday I rode 62 miles in 03:18.44 which averages out to be 18.65 miles per hour. Not too bad for my first ride but there's definite room for improvement.
